Ode to a Strong Woman

An Ode to a Strong Woman Through the Eyes of Another

What is a strong woman?  Sometimes people do not see themselves through clear eyes!  The trials and tribulations of life blind them to all that they are and all that they do!  As I think of a strong woman, someone that never values herself as much as she should, comes to my mind!  So, I will try to show her what others see when they look at her.

She is a survivor of divorce, which is never easy!

She is an amazing mother to 2 amazing kids.

She does not get any help from the father of the children, something that is all too common!

She works at a job that does not even pay minimum wage if the hours were broken down, but she does it because she loves children and loves her job!

Despite her pay, she spends her own money to bring extra things to her students!

She takes 5 kids into the woods, on her own, camping!

She loves our kids like her own!

She loves all kids she meets like her own!

She has been forced to change her entire food system due to her daughter’s illness!  This has obviously caused a lot of worry and anxiety as any issue with your kids does!

She began her life over and found a man that could have truly changed her life!

She lost that man as he passed away before her very eyes!

She keeps fighting to overcome those hardships and pains!

She runs all over town searching for rocks with her kids, still finding joy in the small things!

She is always there to help a friend and never says no when someone is in need!

She drives a car that is one day past dead with no air, doors that won’t work half the time and a fuse she must wiggle to get the car to crank!

She is the most determined and most stubborn person I have ever met!

She must be forced to take help from anyone else because it makes her feel like she has failed!

She is the most caring and loving person that anyone will ever meet!

As her friend, I push her hard sometimes!  She is so stubborn she won’t always do what is best for herself!  I pushed her to call the man she met above!  (I would still do that again despite the final outcome!  I am a firm believer in the adage it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all!) I pushed her to overcome her fear of boats (Still working on that one!)  I have pushed her to fight her ex-husband for what she and her kids deserve!  But despite that and other areas I have pushed her in, she has done it all herself!  She made the decisions, she made the moves and she, has to deal with all of the issues!  That is a strong woman!

I truly admire her spirit and determination and greatly value her friendship.  I hope she can see that in herself as she reads this!  (I imagine she will just shake her head and say “I just do what I have to!”  I hope everyone will stop looking in the mirror and seeing only those things that they think are wrong and instead see all the things that are right!  Look at yourself through the eyes of your children, your friends and all of those who see the amazing person you are!
