Tennessee Blueway-The City of Chattanooga
I have been to Chattanooga many times, but seeing the bluffs above the city, McClellan Island, the Aquarium and the rest of the city from a canoe was an entirely different experience! We paddled right up to the bluff and touched it and then circled around McClellan Island and saw all sorts of birds and wildlife! Seeing the bridges from underneath made them seem so much larger than they do from the shore! They towered above our heads as we moved within touching distance! It was awesome! One of the main things I noticed in our trip down the Tennessee Blueway was that nature and industry are intertwined! I’ll bring that theme up in future posts. We could see beautiful heron flying across the skyline with the city in the background and industrial machinery within sight! Man and nature have come and gone over the years, but they are both all around in this beautiful area! The history of the city and the river fascinate me and I look forward to doing more reading on it!
