After getting the kids off to a 4H adventure and the rest of the week camping with their dad, we headed out on our own camping adventure! Phyllis had to miss our fun day on Monday due to work, but now she was back with us! We left for Desoto Falls Campground near Blairsville at around 9am and made it there around noon! We were a little worried about leaf watchers being out and not being able to get a site, but we had no problem and got our favorite site! After we set up camp, we drove to the trailhead at Helton Creek Falls! We had been here before and were afraid they would not have a great deal of water, but they were beautiful and flowing well! We spent some time hiking around them and taking pictures! I had to do something I had not done before, so I scrambled up the side trail to the top of the falls! It was an amazing view! Watching Ariana and Marcial together warmed my heart as he helped her wade in the water and kept a close eye on her! I also walked a tree laying across the creek and smiled at Marcial as he did the same! Having accomplished our goals, we hiked the short trail back out! These falls are amazing, especially considering the very short walk, and we had them all to ourselves for the whole time!
