After a wonderful night of sleep, we had a breakfast of bacon, eggs and tortillas. Marcial, Ariana and I headed out for a short hike to Desoto Falls at our campground while Phyllis did some packing! This hike is short and pretty, but the falls were almost dry. We did see several wild turkeys which was neat and the area is very pretty! Good way to get the blood pumping for the day!

After our hike, we came back to camp and packed everything up and off to the highest point in Georgia, Brasstown Bald! We made a quick stop at the Neel’s Gap Appalachian Trail stop and then drove to Brasstown Bald! Phyllis and Ariana took the lazy way out and rode the bus to the top, while Marcial and I hiked the straight up, though short, trail! The day was beautiful and the views were incredible! The best thing was that we had the place almost all to ourselves! The weekday trip turned out to be the perfect time before the October crowds hit! After we all hiked back down the mountain we drove to Helen for a good German lunch and Hansel and Gretel’s Sweat shop! The brittle, candy apples and fudge are amazing! We had 2 more stops that we intended to do, Amicalola Falls and The swinging bridge over the Tocoa River on the Benton McKay Trail! We headed to the Tocoa first because Phyllis and I had never been there either! We still had more day left in us!!
