Tocoa River Swinging Bridge-October 2016

One of my favorite stops was our last stop in the mountains! We had hoped to make it to Amicalola Falls too, but this stop took extra time and was well worth it! The drive in on the dirt road was a bumpy, but fun, trip! It reminded me of the Cohutta and I think Marcial and Ariana loved it! (Well, Marcial…Ariana was not too fond of the bouncing after the long curvy road we took to get to the bridge!) After arriving at the trailhead, it was just a short hike to the bridge and the river! I had read about the bridge when Craig and I had made plans to hike the Benton McKay Trail (Plans fell through at the time, but I am hoping for the future that we still get it done! At least I can say I have hiked part of the trail!), but I had no idea how amazing it is! This bridge is incredible and the swaying scared Ariana to death, but we had a blast! It is hard to believe that this structure is in the middle of the wilderness and it is even harder to imagine people building it! More than worth the trip, but take a truck! One part of the road reminded me of Test Track at EPCOT it was so bumpy!
