The Tennesse Blueway-Nickajack Lake

Our final day on the Tennessee brought us to the largest part of Nickajack Lake. I learned something new and that was that actually the whole area we paddled is both the Tennessee River and Nickajack Lake. Anyway, the day began with a good breakfast and a beautiful sunrise over the mountains! We left our cove and passed by the front of the house being built then on to our paddling! We passed amazing nature as well as many beautiful homes! Lots more nature and the fascinating Hales Bar, which is the old dam replaced in the 1960s! When we sighted the Hwy 41 bridge and Hwy 24 bridge we knew we were almost home! We docked at a campground near the dam and our friend April picked us up once again! We made it! Fifty miles, an estimated 90,000 paddle strokes, 3 full days on the river and some of the most amazing memories ever! We were exhausted and happy to be off the river, but sad to see the experience come to an end! But, we will be back for more!
